Course Description:
PRE-AND PERINATAL MASSAGE THERAPY is an
advanced, hands-on training in all aspects of maternity massage therapy,
including pregnancy, labor, and the postpartum period,
designed and developed by
Carole Osborne, the 2008 AMTA National Teacher of the Year, and author
of Pre-and Perinatal Massage
Therapy. Practitioners who are seeking practice
specialization or are preparing for collaborations with physicians,
midwives, or hospitals will learn a comprehensive theoretical,
anatomical, and somatic foundation for their work. Intensive hands-on
instruction conveys over 80 advanced techniques specifically adapted by
course developer Carole Osborne-Sheets for the childbearing year,
including deep tissue, passive movement, neuromuscular, reflexive, and
positional releases, featuring the insights and selected techniques of
Ida Rolf, tai chi chuan, and other somatic methodologies. ***We are
seeking pregnant women for a free massage therapy session within this
training. Women who are beyond twelve weeks and whose pregnancies are
low risk and without complications are invited to receive a massage as
part of this clinic. These sessions are by appointment. Please call
Nancy Harrell 919-532-7153 for more information.
